My name is Jane R. Fuerst and I am a retired attorney. I began my career at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; moved on to private practice; later, served as general counsel of two corporations; and, at the end of 2014, retired from Viacom Inc. as Vice President-Senior Counsel. During my career, I volunteered to perform legal services on a pro bono basis whenever possible. I advised young entrepreneurs to help them get their business plans off the ground and served as a member of the Business Advisory Council of YAI, an organization that works with people with developmental challenges.
Since retiring, I have focused on contributing to our community by volunteering at the Marlene Mayerson JCC Manhattan and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Last year, I became a member of the Board of the Hunter College Hillel, an institution that combines my appreciation of Hillel organizations at other colleges that served my children when they attended college and my high regard for Hunter College, where I have been privileged to attend several classes as a senior auditor.
