Shabbat

Everyone needs to take a break and have a good rest. The Jewish tradition of Shabbat provides 25 hours of complete separation from the rest of the week.

Everyone celebrates Shabbat differently.  Some follow a strict code of law, restricting the use of electricity and travel, while others find rest and relaxation in painting or seeing friends.  Whatever your observance level, the message of Shabbat is clear: Take a Break!

Hillel at Hunter College helps you take that break by providing monthly Shabbat Dinners at the Brookdale dorms.  Once a month, students congregate at the dorms to participate in a festive meal.  We often have themes and guest speakers.

If you would like to help plan, set up, organize, or clean up a Shabbat Dinner, please e-mail Amanda Nable at hillel@hunter.cuny.edu.  If you would like to just show up, here is the schedule!
