As a pluralistic community, Hillel celebrates that students "remember and keep" Shabbat differently.

Twice a month, Hillel sponsors a Kosher-catered, festive Shabbat dinner and (tech-free) entertainment for the whole Hillel community.

In Fall 2015, entertainment featured spoken word artists Joe Robbins/OMG Poetry and the Vanessa Higgins/Hebrew Mamita

Spring 2016, entertainment included stand-up comedian Aaron Kominos-Smith, improv-troup Project Ivy Tuna, and Jewish rapper Kosha Dillz.

Hillel offers "Shabbat grants" to students in the residential halls to create self-facilitated Shabbat experiences on Saturdays, called "Bible Brunches." These events unify the Jewish community in the dorms, have served as a place to reflect and celebrate accomplishments and simchas, and stimulate conversation about Jewish identity across different denominational backgrounds.

Students are encouraged to participate in organized Jewish Life in NYC

Hillel offices and communications are closed during Shabbat.
